It is easy to understand most builders' reluctance to renovate or remodel homes that are over 10 or 20 years old. Few corners are square, walls are out-of-plumb, foundations have settled, and "flat surfaces" rarely are flat after all.

In contrast, for us there is nothing quite like working on REAL 2x4s or holding a crystal doorknob set into solid brass. The builders of old did not have all the fancy tools and engineered materials of today, but the homes they built are still sound and standing firm…a treasure to be shined anew and savored.
